Arc (Amethyst Research Coalition) is a research group for high schoolers and undergrads. This page explains what we collect when you apply, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

What we collect

• What you type into the application: your name, email, school, grade or year, age, country and time zone, GitHub and other links, and your answers.
• If you're under 18: your parent or guardian's name and email, and your confirmation that they know you're applying.
• A quick bot check. To keep out spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs in your browser. Cloudflare looks at technical details like your IP address and browser to tell people from bots, and uses them to run and improve that check, not for ads. It never receives your answers. • Nothing else. The form doesn't use tracking cookies or ads. A draft of your answers is saved in your own browser so you don't lose them; it's deleted when you submit.

Why we collect it

• To review your application and decide on Cohort 01.
• To contact you about your application.
• If you're under 18 and accepted: to contact your parent or guardian and ask for their consent before you join.

We don't sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

Who can see it

Only the small Arc team reviewing applications. Applications are stored in a private Google Sheet (Google provides the storage, and the fonts on these pages). Cloudflare runs the bot check but never receives your application. Nothing you submit is made public.

Age

You need to be 13 or older to apply. If you're under 18, we'll ask for your parent or guardian's details, and we won't add you to any team or community space until they've given consent.

How long we keep it

If you're not accepted, we delete your application within 12 months of the decision, so we can recognise you if you reapply. If you're accepted, we keep it while you're a member and for up to 12 months after you leave.

Your choices

You (or, if you're under 18, your parent or guardian) can ask us at any time to show you what we have, correct it, or delete it. Email theomirzakhanian@gmail.com from the address you applied with, and we'll reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects applications you've already sent, we'll email you.
